General podiatry

Corns. Calluses. Cracked heels. An ingrown, thickened or fungal toenail — or nails that have become difficult to cut safely at home.

Small things — until they’re not. You don’t need anything complicated to deserve relief, and you don’t need to have “let it go too far” to book in.

What’s involved

Most of these concerns come down to a small number of common causes: friction or uneven pressure (corns and calluses), dry skin and prolonged standing (cracked heels), footwear that’s too tight or nails cut incorrectly (ingrown toenails), and fungal or viral organisms that thrive in warm, enclosed shoes (fungal nails and warts). Knowing which one you’re actually dealing with is what decides the right treatment — which is why an assessment comes before anything else.

It’s worth booking in if a corn or callus keeps returning despite home care, a crack in your heel won’t settle, a nail has become painful or hard to manage yourself, or you’re simply not sure what you’re looking at. None of these need to reach “unbearable” first.

What to expect

There’s no issue too small to bring in. An early look usually means a simpler path — and if it turns out to be nothing, that’s a good outcome, not a wasted visit.

Funding: Private Health, SIRA, Medicare CDM/EPC and DVA are all accommodated — ask when you book. As a Bupa Members First and HCF More for Feet provider, eligible members often see a bigger rebate, claimed same‑visit.
